This looks really good for a practice, the only thing I am not sure if it's really necessary is these 'white-yellow glowing spots' on the face, my opinion is that it will be better without them. Anyway you're going on the right way of practice with Photoshop, I like manipulation you made ;)

yes, I believe it was, but you can always try with some experiments like this one I suggested you ;)
