If you are working with paths as a begginner then you should have patience when it comes to the results of finishing , and those who are experienced know why we need patience to accomplish what we wanted with paths!

If you would like to see the directions of  the path in the beginning, check the Rubber Band on the track Options (Like it is shown on the left). This, in many cases makes the work with paths much easier, espepically for the unexperienced begginners.

Every dot, or a point orders the path telling her how the segment goes inside of the path and how the segment comes out of the path. Identity of every driving stop you chose by pressing, pulling or  holding the Alt and pulling the Pen tool. The following points explain special kinds of dots and segments that you could make in the Photoshop.

Angular Point: Press the Pen tool so that you could make an angular point, that represents an angle between two straight segmnet of the path.

Straight Segment: Press the tool on two different places so that you could make a straight segment between two angled points. Hold Shift and press to get the segment with the angle of 45 degrees between the new angled point and the one before.

Soft Point: Pull to make the soft point using two simetric holders. Soft point insures that the two segments that are meeting make whole , unseparated path.

Curved Segment: Pull on two different places to make the curved segment between two soft points.

Straight Segment Behind the Curved Segment: After you've drawn the segment that is curved, press Alt+ the soft point that you've made just before so that you could earase the first handle. This way you will change the soft point in the curved point with one handle. After that click on some other place -spot, so that you could add a straight segment on the end of the curved segment.

Curved Segment Behind the Straight Segment: Since you've drawn the straight segment, pull from the angled point that you've made so that you can add a handle. Then, again on the other spot and there the angled segment will be continued  on the one that is straight.

Top Point: After you've drawn the angled segment, press Alt and pull away form the soft point that you've made so that you can redirection the first handle making the soft point in the angled point in the other direction from the curved segment before.

Bottom part of the panel Path:

Looking from the left  to the right the options are as following :
Fill Path: Does the filling of the path with the color of the first plan on the background or the active layer.
Stroke Path: Does the contour or the frame based on the Brush Tool and the color of the first plan.
Load Path as Selection: Converts the path in the selection.
Make work Path from Selection: If you've made the selection using this option you make You will  make the path from it.
Create New Path:  Creating of the new working path. This, on which you should pay attention , is the safekeeping of the paths. If you've opened extra menu ( the arrow on the right ) the option Save Path will appear. This way your path will be saved.
Delete Current Path: Earasing of the active path.

Paths can help you a lot when working with Photoshop, for example using the path we make some of the most accurate selections. If you've used Lasso Tool by now, try to exchange it with the paths and be patient.
